Although, as mother of 5 every day in my home is laundry day, I am excited to be celebrating National Laundry Day April 15th with GE Appliances, who are leading the way in merging design and technology to elevate the laundry experience.

Not even a decade ago, laundry was a seen as a dirty task you were forced into tiny cramped basements to complete, but nowadays laundry has become an accepted part of everyday life. Doing laundry has become an experience, and in our homes we’re looking to design spaces that will elevate this everyday task into an enjoyable practice. As interior designers we’re creating spaces now for our clients that would rival any swoon-worthy kitchen – custom cabinetry, stone counters, artisanal backsplashes, and at the center of it all functional yet chic appliances.

Did you know that 55% of all laundry pairs sold in Canada are top load? And that number is growing, with many Canadians preferring the ergonomics, ease and functionality of a top load machine. So isn’t it time for the modern styling and high performance of front load laundry to come to the top load laundry category? When it comes to laundry in my household, it’s not simply a woman’s task. Everyone takes their turn and lends a helping hand – kids included.
