For everyone who would like to re-create a similar look themselves, here is breakdown of various pieces we used in the space and on our TV Segment.

This is the room before:

When it comes to any space, putting your own stamp on it can be tricky if you aren’t sure where to start, but that task becomes even more challenging when you’re in a rental. You don’t have the flexibility to pull off a reno, and even minor changes can sometimes be met with a fight with your landlord. There are a few key things anyone can do to make their house or apartment feel more like their home:

Start with the basics: measure your room and consider what would be the best focal point and create a conversation area a round it. Maybe it’s your fireplace, or even your TV or a piece of art. If you’re buying new furniture, consider investing in quality now. A well-made, timeless sofa can work in any space, but a cheap alternative will look worn much faster.

Then, decide what will be your jumping off point for your room update. This could be a pillow, piece of art, carpet or coffee table book. Something that really speaks to you and your style.

It can help if you choose a light tone from your jumping off point item and paint the walls that colour. If you aren’t able to paint, removeable wallpaper is a fantastic option.

Update your art to something larger and more dramatic is also a great way to make a big impact. Invest in something you love, that way when you move to your forever home, you’ll still be excited to take it with you.

Finally, complete your new look with fresh accessories like pillows, artifacts, storage boxes and candles. These are simple, affordable decor items that you can swap out as trends pass or your taste changes.

This was my design board for that space. As you can see a few things changed just because of the need to get things shipped in really quick order on this particular project. (Thank you Sponsors!)
